Twist Bioscience, has announced an acceleration in the turnaround time for its gene fragment products. The company now offers a starting turnaround of two business days for all configurations of its Twist Gene Fragments, regardless of whether adaptors are included.
According to the company, the change results from internal manufacturing optimizations designed to speed up production while maintaining product quality. Twist’s gene fragments are used in a variety of research applications, including protein engineering, diagnostic development, and functional genomics.
The new timeline applies to gene fragments ranging from 300 base pairs to 5 kilobases in length. In addition, Twist stated that fragments will be shipped within two to four business days after processing, even for large-scale orders. The company also announced it will now offer adaptor-free fragments as a standard option without additional fees, a shift from previous pricing practices.
Twist claims a low synthesis error rate of 1 in 7,500 base pairs, which may reduce the time researchers spend on downstream validation steps. The fragments are compatible with common cloning techniques and can be delivered in multiple formats, such as plates or tubes, with optional normalization and resuspension.
This move comes amid increasing demand for flexible and rapid synthetic DNA production in the life sciences sector. Twist, which operates a high-throughput automated production platform, says its pricing continues to start at $0.07 per base pair across all fragment types.
