MilliporeSigma and Opentrons Launch Automated Workstation to Streamline Laboratory Research

Latest News

MilliporeSigma, has released the AAW™ Automated Assay Workstation, a robotic system designed to automate routine lab experiments. Developed in collaboration with lab automation firm Opentrons Labworks, Inc., the workstation is intended to improve experimental consistency and reduce the manual workload in academic, biotech, and pharmaceutical laboratories.

The AAW™ is the first product resulting from a multi-year partnership between the two companies, which was announced earlier this year. The device automates repetitive laboratory tasks that have traditionally been performed by hand, potentially minimizing user error and improving the reproducibility of results.

According to MilliporeSigma, the system offers a plug-and-play setup and comes with a library of validated protocols for applications in protein, molecular, and cell biology. It is designed to integrate into existing lab workflows without significant infrastructure changes.

Anand Nambiar, Head of Science & Lab Solutions at the Life Science business stated that the new product addresses a growing demand among researchers for more efficient, standardized processes. “Our customers are increasingly seeking tools that improve efficiency and deliver reliable and reproducible results. By automating routine tasks, researchers can focus on solving complex scientific challenges and accelerate discovery.”
