Biotech Collaboration Aims to Broaden Access to Genetically Engineered Mouse & Rat Models

Latest News

Taconic Biosciences and Cyagen Biosciences have announced a distribution partnership, giving researchers in North America and Europe streamlined access to more than 16,000 rodent models developed by Cyagen.

Cyagen, a China-based contract research organization, has built a vast catalog of genetically modified mouse strains, including knockout (KO), conditional knockout (cKO), and Cre-recombinase expressing lines. These models, created using both traditional and AI-assisted genetic engineering techniques, support research into a wide array of physiological and disease mechanisms.

Under the terms of the partnership, Taconic, a U.S.-based provider of rodent models and associated services, will act as the exclusive distributor of Cyagen’s model library across North America and Europe. The collaboration is expected to streamline delivery, production, and breeding support for these specialized animals, often essential tools in preclinical drug development and basic biomedical research.
